Executive Producer - News & Talk

K-News Radio, Palm Springs #1 News/Talk station is seeking a full-time Executive Producer for News & Talk. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years experience in the news/talk format with skills in producing current-events/issue-oriented talk shows, and writing, editing and reporting news stories. The Executive Producer will be responsible for:

- Collaborating with the host on the planning, research, guest-booking and in-studio production (board operator, call screening) of a live daily 3-hour (PM Drive) talk show;

- Gathering, writing and editing news stories between 6 and 11:30 pm weeknights and reporting/anchoring late-night/overnight local news updates and news wraps for use in the morning news.

The ideal candidate will have experience using broadcast consoles, telephone hybrid systems, basic knowledge of the Maestro automation system and CoolEdit non-linear audio production software, and know how to use Microsoft Office tools like Word and Excel. This person should also have experience with booking guests and being able to develop show plans for a multi-faceted talk show, including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with publicists, communications directors and others necessary to have access to newsmakers, celebrities and a wide variety of experts. Basic interviewing skills for talk show pre-interviews as well as for gathering actualities to be used in newscasts is also critical to this position.

Applicant should be dynamic, competitive, and selfmotivated with excellent communication skills and a winning attitude. Sales experience required. Media experience helpful. Bilingual a plus.
